Essential clothing for your activities at Killary Adventure Co.

We recommend you bring with you the following items of clothing and equipment to help make your stay or day trip with us as comfortable as possible.  The weather on the west coast proves to be completely unpredictable so be prepared for everything from hail to blazing sun!

 

  • Old warm clothing (preferably not denim trousers but tracksuits, fleeces, combats, etc.)

  • Rain jacket & trousers (very important)

  • Heavy padded jacket if Clay Pigeon Shooting

  • Old runners and/or walking boots that you don’t mind getting wet

  • Swimwear for underneath wetsuits for water based activities

  • Towel

  • Complete change of clothes and spare shoes for evening wear

  • Woolly hat, gloves & warm socks for cold weather


 

Extra useful information:

  • Wet suits are provided, as are buoyancy aids & helmets, for all watersports. 

  • NB: Insect repellent should be brought to keep away the annoying midges April – Oct. They will try to drive you insane otherwise!

  • Only mobile phones on the 087 network will work in the Leenane area. There is no reception for 086 and 085 networks. 

  • Toiletries are not available for sale at Killary Adventure Centre but a limited range can be purchased in Leenane (5km). The nearest chemist shop is in Clifden or Westport (approx.30mins driving time).

  • There are changing and shower facilities here at Killary Adventure Co. 

 

 

Valuables and lost property:

It is advisable to leave all valuables at home as Killary takes no responsibility for lost or stolen property. As so many people leave clothing behind at the centre, it is discarded the following day or passed onto the charity shop if usable, so make sure you check that you have everything with you before you leave the activity site or the centre. 

We advise people not to take valuables with them on activities and suggest that you leave any valuables at the reception desk.
